It's been a crazy couple of days. LJ had his first trip to the emergency room on December 23rd! Ah yes...he is 1/2 Klatt remember!!!
Anyway, he'd been fighting this cold/upper respitory infection for over a week when he woke up sunday morning and just sounded a little different. His cough was a little more "bark-like" and he had started this whole inconsolable crying thing the night before. Usually when he freaks out like that either hubby or I can calm him pretty easily. Well not this time. He would just wail and wail and wail. I decided to call E, hubby's pediatrician cousin, to see what she thought. She recommended we call LJ's pedi and possibly go over to the ER. So we called LJ's pedi and he also recommended the ER to rule out RSV. It figures that once we get there the kid doesn't stop smiling the entire time and even falls asleep! To make a long story short, LJ is ok. His RSV culture came out negative and the ER doctor was very reassuring that we are doing everything right. He just has a virus that will take at least 10 days to pass. Until then, we have to continue with the humidifier, saline drops, and bulb syringe (aka: snot sucker). We grabbed our discharge papers, sleeping baby, and diaper bag and were on our way. Final diagnosis: bronchiolitis.
Christmas was a lot of fun with LJ this year. Granted he has no clue what's going on but it was still fun to start our own little family traditions. He got a lot of great toys and clothes. And we (read: me) took an obscene amount of pictures and video of the poor guy (see below).
His big 4 month check up is tomorrow. I can't wait to see how much weight the porker put on! Stay tuned...
